Hey,
I work for a multinational corporation called Applied Materials. We have many tools that have industrial applications and we are planning to use UE4 to create interactive experiences and simulations that we will be using strictly within our company circle. What are the licensing options that I have? Can we use it for free?
Cheers
Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, and Applied Materials is a big enough corporation to have plenty of lawyers on staff. They should be the ones to give you the go ahead.
But
The UE4 engine should be able to be used for “free” from what you have stated. When the engine is being used, to generate income/profit, then there is a 5% royalty that is charged (which is very inexpensive, when you consider what your getting for 5%), on the revenue.
Hence if there is no revenue, there is no royalty to be paid.
But again, this is a question that you should really be asking the legal staff of AM to answer. To make sure that you are staying within corporate guidelines, etc.
Hope this helps.
