I just want to use cool lights and animations from DMX template. But default DMX project and DMX Previs Sample doesn’t work. I want to animate lights using sequencer, why the light doesn’t react when I change values in the Sequencer?
Hello ORTyOW,
The DMX Template and Sample project should definitely work as-is in all UE releases.
Could you please describe a little more what you are experiencing? Precisely, what is not working, the embedded DMX animations or manually animating a DMX track in Sequencer?
Often what we have seen in the past go wrong is that some Windows configurations, especially if you had indivertibly turned on Firewall and not authorized Unreal, then DMX network data packets can be blocked. I would suggest you reset your Firewall settings and add UE to the list and give it another try? Let us know how things go.
Best,
Sev.
Hello, Sev!
Thank you for joining! Yes actually I looked through all possible reasons and solutions on the Internet, tried adding the engine to all the white lists, tried disabling the firewall, and so on, in the end I managed to solve it in the most unexpected way, partially related to the firewall:
enabling VPN, and depending on the country (I checked it several times) everything either worked or it didn’t. Personally, I’m from Belarus, connecting to Japan didn’t help, but connecting to other countries worked fine.
This was the most absurd solution to the problem, but I am happy it worked
Hi ORTyOW,
Definitely interesting! Have you tried sending the DMX packets to yourself using localhost / 127.0.0.1 in the DMX configuration?
Sev.
