I want to have custom folder structure and this is priority step for me.
In CryEngine we have “Assets”, that can be changed to any directory in game root, but the engine itself is very hard to work with. UE4 looks more user-friendly.

The project folder structure has to remain as it is, but you can structure folders within the Content folder however you want.
Going off of what darthviper107 said, just make sure that when you restructure the content folder that you’re doing that INSIDE the editor’s content browser and not in the windows explorer.
