Can I import a Maya animation with transform values on the 'main' controller?

Hi

I have created an animation in Maya which includes a section where the character spins, using the ‘main’ controller. After trying all myriad of combinations of exporting and baking, no matter what I do the animation on that controller won’t export/import. It sits above the root joint in the outliner and I suspect that’s the issue. I’m wanting to be able to render my animations in Unreal as I know it’ll greatly assist in workflow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Carry your Main Controller values with bone… make sure bone is taking values.
I have same issue with my vehicle animation,
This is might be UE is not still developed properll for maya’s constraints yet.

Make a new bone add point and orient constrain with controller, that wont affect rest animation and bone also carry values . then bake animation and export.
make sure your all animating is going througn bone values, not with constraint or expressions, that will not work in unreal

Hi Rushidimber
Thanks for this, which bone do you mean? Obviously all the bones in the rig are assigned their controllers. The main controller affects all the bones.

Thanks buddy, I’ll give this a go later and let you know. Much appreciated!

I couldn’t get it to go, it’s a referenced character, too complicated!
