the terms and conditions was too excited to try
Nice
still waiting for an answer to this question?
Hello there! I work on the UEFN documentation team. If you’ve completed your project you can do a private publish and share the project code with your friends and family without publishing the game to the wider public. If you run into any problems in the publishing process. let me know.
Hello UsedTires, I personally have a question, don’t you need to be part of the team and do KYC to join a private island ? Also, are the servers as powerful as public ones ?(I’m having a really bad bug on my island)
You only need to add people to a team if you want others to be able to edit the island with you or play a private/unpublished code because you want feedback on your island.
To play the island privately you go through the publishing workflow, but make your island Unlisted, which means it won’t show in Discover.
An Unlisted publish provides you with a shareable link code that anyone you share the code with can use to play your island. It’s like a YouTube video where you can hit the URL but it won’t show up in search (Discover in our case).
Even after you release an Unlisted island, you can still go back and iterate on that island and republish in the future if you want as well.
So if I want random people to give feedback on my island, I need to add them to the team ? Isn’t this a bit overkill ?
Furthermore there is no “Tester” role in a team so you need to give minimum collaborator access to a random player who tests your map, and he has to complete KYC
Sorry if I’m wrong, just trying to understand how it works
So I can’t not be ban by doing with copyright stuff on my map only can ban if release to the public? Just making sure only private code I can do it on
just make sure to get ur props from sketchlab epic owns that ur good to go
You can publish your island as unlisted and give anyone the code you want. If you receive feedback you want to work on, you can go back and edit your island and republish. the approved island code will continue to work for anyone you’ve given the code to as you work on your island.
Once you’ve completed work on improving your island, you send it through the approvals process again. There’s no need to create new videos and thumbnails as long as the central gameplay remains the same.
@MasterDylan20 Epic released a blog post that covers using IP if there’s any confusion about what you can and can’t do. Even unlisted islands go through a review process, if you read the blog and follow and guidelines given, you should be fine.
Thank you for your answer, but don’t you still find it a bit overkill to go through moderation just to playtest your unlisted map ?
I actually did a playtest session with friends yesterday that I had to do on a private Island, because I tried to publish the island 2 weeks ago but it didn’t pass moderation, I had to open a topic on the forum, take the generic answer from Stevie, talk to someone in Epic support chat, have 5 people emailing me and it’s still not published…
This is common sense to me that all of this is too much. You should publish your island only when it’s ready, and unlisted island should not go through moderation untill it becomes listed.
Yes I have been doing
I’m sorry this is a source of frustration. I’ll see if the creator Portal team is aware.
Well thank you for that, I’d also like to add that despite the fact that it is not convenient. You’re also basically giving access to your creation to anybody who plays your map (your map / your code / your assets). Which I think is not really great in terms of IP protection.
(also my map is still not passing moderation )
When your island gets rejected are you being supplied with a reason for the rejection? There’s supposed to be actionable steps you can take. Sometimes the fix is as simple as creating new thumbnails etc.
Uhm, I’ve actually received 10+ times the same answer by different people. (your island doesn’t respect the IP section of the island creator rules…)
But it’s actually being managed by Flak atm, thanks for your concern though
Glad Flak is looking into it for you
