So, I just got Unreal Engine 4.1, and I downloaded the Elemental Demo, so my first question is, did they animate the ice and fire knights in the Unreal Editor it’s self? Or did they import it from Maya or something? If they did do it in the editor, how did they do it? I know you can animate objects and cameras with matinee, but I don’t think you can animate different limbs or any parts of the actor you want to animate.
look…it’s much easier for sure to animate via max or maya …in UE4 , there is a node in BluePrint called timeline
you use it to animate objects via time.
but i think it has another way to do what you’re asking for sure.
Hi!
The fire and ice knights for the Elemental Demo were definitely animated in Maya. If you have a hierarchy of any complexity at all, it’s much easier to rig and animate that character in a dedicated content creation package like Max or Maya. UE4 has some good animation tools like Matinee, but as you mentioned, they were designed more for animating cameras and relatively simple objects than for creating detailed character performances.
Good luck!
Ok, that’s what I thought, thanks!
