I am looking for recommendations for software to manipulate animation data for humanoid characters. For example: suppose I have motions from Mixamo and I want to create new animations for a cutscene where anim data should be blended and/or masked. I don’t need to do this at runtime so it can all be pre-baked. Just wondering what people use?
Motion Builder is indeed the best, the industry standart for characters animations, it is used on almost ALL games nowadays, the most recent example is Mortal Kombat 11, which had all the character animations both motion capture and manual animations done on Motion Builder. However, if you can’t afford, so Maya LT is the best option for you, because it uses the same character animation engine (Autodesk Human IK), and has almost the same features as Motion Builder.
You can blend these animations in a way just like you edit videos in Adobe Premiere, which is so easy, and so fun, and gives awesome results.
