Can and how do you make an episodic game on UE5?

Hello, everyone. I’m kinda new to the whole Unreal Engine 5 stuff, so if this is a stupid question, I apologize.

I want to know if you can make an episodic game in UE5. I’ve searched if anyone else has asked the question or if there are any tutorials but I only found one other person’s question and they never really got answered.

I’d ask someone to make a tutorial on it but I don’t know anybody personally that can work the engine.

Hey @Beepboop29! Welcome to the forums!

Can you explain or give examples on what you mean by episodic? Do you mean something that has constant updates labeled as episodes, or maybe a longer story broken up into pieces?

Like a longer story broken into pieces. Like chapters almost. Say I wanted to have five episodes. One episode would be the first chapter and so on. You’d click on one episode and get that part of the story and then when you’re done with it, you go back and click onto the next episode, if that makes any sense.

Then yes, I believe an episodic game is possible, the only hangups I could see would be with an outside source (such as maybe steam or GOG) if you wanted to package each episode individually- but even then you’d just classify them as DLC and you’re done!

You’d pack the entire game then wall episodes behind DLC- or you could release each episode through updates.

Thank you so much. You’re the only person that could answer that for me.
