Can a sceletal mesh have more than one armature? or..

Ok, i’m a beginner in animations and would like to know the best way to use my tools. (Blender(rigify), Makehuman etc).
I would like to make a character (generate or from scratch), rig it (rigify or similar way) and make some animations, but I also would like to use the epic animation starter pack or others for the same sceleton mesh.
I looked into it and I think retargeting the rigify rig for the epic animations would be difficult (if possible at all)… so I wonder if it is necessary or maybe my mesh can live with more than one armature with their own respective animations.
If not then maybe someone knows a good (easy) way to achieve what i want.
