Camera Shakes - Really Confused

I’m really confused about how to start and stop a camera shake using 5.6.1. I cannot find one consistent tutorial about how to do this. I just want a simple camera shake to start and stop. I have a camera shake blueprint. I have tried Player Controller-> Client Start Camera Shake, Stop Camera Shake (by itself). I’ve tried Player Controller → Player Camera Manager → Start Camera Shake. There is also Play World Camera Shake. Which one should I be using?

Hey @Nitrox32 !

If your game is online then you want “Client” camera shake. If it’s single player you want “Start Camera Shake”. Play World Camera Shake shakes every camera in the game. What does your camera shake blueprint look like? Did you choose a Root shake pattern? Perlin, sinusoidal etc? It may be playing but if you don’t have a shake pattern it won’t do anything noticeable.

Get back to us on that!

Thanks for getting back to me. The camera shakes do work. I just didn’t know which one I should be using. Should Start Camera Shake come from the Camera Manager? This is what the camera blueprint settings look like. When the player kills an enemy, they can go over and stomp the enemy to get the loot to spawn. I’m not sure if these setting are they way to go. If you have any suggestions that would be great.

Okay then! You can use the player controller one! That’s ideal if you’re not using online functionality. As far as those settings they will change what the camera shake looks like when you do it, you can make those numbers anything you want they are more for fine tuning. May want to check Single Instance, though!
