Hi Greg
I have some terrestrial images shot w/ GPS. My project broke into several components.
= what camera you use ? every image have proper GPS coordinates ?
I added some control points between two of the components and tried aligning the images. I am now getting the error " Operation failed Camera position is not valid for specified coordinate system." any ideas on troubleshooting this?
= can send the imgs dataset to milos.lukac@capturingreality.com ?
I just hit the same error. No suggestions on how to solve it. No “Learn more”.
Pretty poor usability if you ask me. Deciding whether to bother or focus my effort on the competitor which doesn’t offer me cryptic error messages.
Hi Andrew Baker
Until we see the data we cant say anything more. As it could be cause by more varaibles, and mostly wrong formated GPS data or etc.
Can you contact me directly on email for furher discussion ?
Wishgranter - thanks for the reply.
Small point - your forums don’t notify via email by default so I nearly missed this reply. If there’s an option to make this on by default in your forum software I’d recommend switching it as it’s how most message boards work nowadays.
Anyway - I will contact you directly to see if you can help with my specific case but I wanted to address the general point.
So - I’m a trial user. I’ve downloaded all the available demos and I’m trying the same set of photos with each. Yours is the only one so far that’s failed and it’s failed with a cryptic error message. The screen that displayed the error gives me no clues. The lovely tutorial mode gives me no hint that this step of the process might fail. What I am expected to do next?
I googled the error and this was the only result. Most people would give up at that point - considering there’s other software to try and time is limited.
At the very very least you should add a line to any such error pointing people to the approved support channels - whether it’s this forum or a direct email channel.
Even better - point them to a page with common solutions or things to try. Don’t just leave them hanging.
(Even better still - don’t fail at all! I assume this is technically possible because your competitors managed to do so
Hi Andrew Baker
Operation failed Camera position is not valid for specified coordinate system
Im pretty sure its explanatory what is the problem, but as i say withotu seeing actual data and VERIFY some informations there we cant say more. Its just not possible. it could be wrongly writen coordinatges ( X-Y axis fliped ) or etc.
