Camera issues in Sequencer editor 4.12

I am having a problem with the sequencer editor. Trying to get my head around it

I add a camera to the scene using the cinecamera actor (add camera)

It positions it somewhere in the floor or very far away from my world. I have opened in a separate project.

I have positioned the camera where I want but then it always pings back, I have tried using the wasd commands to move the camera but in the timeline it continues to be staring at nothing. I have tried keyframing it so it stays in place to no avail. Is this a bug? I have also tried attaching a camera to a camera rig and it doesn’t follow along. It also doesn’t allow me to add the keyframes to bend the rig trail.

In the matinee editor you simply clicked the camera and added a movement track, it is incredibly frustrating this isn’t working. Is anyone else having this issue?

Frustrated and confused, please help

A few things to check:

  • When you’re using the wasd commands, are you looking through the camera (locked to the viewport)? There should be a white camera button in the sequencer tree view indicating that you’re looking through the camera. Once you position the camera, you should keyframe it, as you’re indicating you’re doing.

  • How are you keyframing the camera? You should be able to select the camera and press ‘s’ or press the circle button in the Transform track area. In the latter case, you don’t have to have the camera selected since you’re indicating that you want to keyframe that particular camera that the Transform track belongs to.
