Camera going through weapon

Hi everyone,

I have a problem that I haven’t been able to find a solution to for 2 days now. Basically I have a character and I made a 1st person camera for it, the character is still intact not like in other examples that I’ve seen where only the arms are left. I just moved the camera to the face and attached it to the head socket. The character is holding a weapon and I want to create a camera so the player can see through the weapons iron sights. The problem is that the camera box goes through the weapon mesh and cuts it off so you can see through it. Its as if the actual camera is a few centimeters behind the actual “camera”.

I’ve tried every possible setting and can’t find a solution. The only solution is to move the camera way back, but then its not an iron sight view anymore.

A possible solution would be to move the camera way back and then zoom in to the iron sight. But I can’t find how to zoom in without moving the actual camera position either.

This is what I am trying to achieve (just some random picture I found on Google):

And this is what happens in Unreal. As you can see at the bottom the camera goes through the mesh. Any ideas on what I need to do?

Thank you in advance.

You’ll need to edit the Near Clip Plane value in the Project Settings. I believe it’s under the Rendering Tab.

You should also experiment with lowering the weapon or putting it more angled upward, the FOV of the camera plays a good role in this and makes it look more like looking along the weapon.

I would recommend setting the near clip plane lower but still leave it as high a value as you can and not go down to 0. Take a look at
