I’m looking to buy a new machine, and I’ve pretty much decided on the Acer VX-15. It comes pre-installed with 16GB RAM, a GTX 1050ti, and a 256 GB M.2 SSD. I plan on adding a spinning hard disk to it so that storage won’t be an issue. However, what I am wondering is whether it would be worthwhile to spend an extra $100 solely to upgrade from a i5 to an i7. I know the hyper threading will be helpful in rendering the game, but how helpful? Is it worth my money to spend $100 just on this upgrade alone, or will the i5 be enough?
It says that i5 version is not available, but i7 costs $1000 - I guess that i5 is $900 than? I’m a beginner when it comes to rendering games (complete noob to be honest) but… If you want to work a lot with editing, rendering and stuff like that I think it might be a good idea to take i7. I’d google both CPUs and check out how big the performance difference is between them.
