Hello,
I am planning a PC-first strategy game in Unreal Engine, with the possibility of supporting mobile platforms later. I would like written clarification about whether the following workflow is permitted under the current Unreal Engine EULA:
- ChatGPT helps me plan the game and generate original code, Blueprints, scripts, and documentation.
- A local Ollama model may also help generate code and content. It runs locally and is used for inference only; I do not train or fine-tune it on Unreal Engine code, documentation, or other Licensed Technology.
- AI-generated scripts may be run in Unreal Editor to create or modify project content. I review the instructions and keep backups.
- Some prompts or project material might be sent to ChatGPT’s hosted service for inference. I will configure the service not to use my content to train or improve models, where that option is available.
- The game will use original names, characters, story, art, audio, and code, plus third-party assets only when their licenses permit the intended use.
Could you please clarify:
- Does this workflow comply with the current EULA, including its restrictions concerning use of Licensed Technology as input to generative AI or to AI systems that train on input data?
- Does sending Unreal Engine code or project material to a hosted AI service for inference count as prohibited input if that service is configured not to train on the submitted content?
- Are there any additional Unreal Engine terms or obligations for AI-generated code or content used only in my own game?
- Which royalty and release-notification rules would apply if I later distribute or sell the game?
I am asking for guidance on the standard license. I am not requesting custom licensing terms or purchasing any paid service. Please point me to the relevant EULA sections or policy pages in your reply.
Thank you.
