I was working on a project with Unreal Engine version 5.4.4 and recently upgraded to version 5.5.4.
For the most part, the migration went well and I resumed working in 5.5.4.
However, when I tried to build the HLOD, I noticed a problem:
The Build Status would show some progress, then stop and hang forever.
To simplify things, I created a new project with the Third Person template in version 5.5.4, created a new Open World map via the New Level menu, saved that level as is, and tried to Build HLODs.
And the problem immediately reappeared.
When I stopped building the HLODs that were hanging and checked the logs, I found an error message that something went wrong with the Shader Compile, but I didn’t think I had a badly written custom material because I was using the template provided by the engine.
A coworker I’m working with was able to reproduce the issue right away, so it doesn’t seem like it’s just my work PC. Anyone else on the forum run into this issue?
I think it’s urgent to fix this issue, as it’s very easy to reproduce, and it’s crippling to the progress of the project. Is there a known solution to this problem? Thank you for your help.
I’m attaching the logs when the HLOD build fails.
