Build failed

Hey everyone, my engine is doing it again.

Again i tried to build my game to see if i could build when we’re going to release. Now again it failed.
But with a slightly different error than before.

How i can make it up is that i’m out of ram, while i had 6gb of ram left.

It’s getting quite close to me having to build the game for testing so it’s kinda important i get this right.

Anyone can see what this error is?

Hey ,

In order to better assist you, could you please provide me the full packaging log, as well as the full crash log in your next reply? Please submit them as separate .txt files. Also, how are you obtaining your version of the engine, is it through the Epic Games Launcher or through GitHub? Have you tried creating a copy of your project and packaging it in 4.8.0 Preview 4? If so, did you receive the same exact error, or a different one?

I still use 4.7.8, as i can’t copy my game over to 4.8, i always get a compile error.
And i’m obtaining through epic games launcher.

Here are the 2 files:

I am unsure what the crash log is, it’s in the same place as output log?

Hey ,

After looking over your new , it looks as if your system is out of memory. Could you please provide me with your dxdiag ? Also, are you running out of space on the hard you’re working off of? I would also suggest that you allocate more temporary memory to UE4 when working within it. I’d also suggest looking into any anti-virus/malware programs that you have and make sure that it’s not causing your editor to have these issues while building and packaging.

Hey Cel,

Thank you for providing all of the information to me. Your RAM seems high enough to be able to cook and build a project as long as it’s not too intensive. If you have around 200 GB left on your hard , I wouldn’t be concerned over that either. That specific link that I provided you, it looks like they’re actually receiving the out of memory error when they’re building the actual engine, I was actually wondering whether or not some of their suggestions on the fix of the specific 's issue would help you along the way as well. :slight_smile:

Are you able to cook, build and package our regular templates, such as Vehicle Advanced? I’m asking you to try that one specifically because it’s a bit larger than the other templates we have available.

One last thing, could you also try to copy your project over to 4.8.0 and see if it’ll package through the newest release from today? Please do not convert your project, simply copy it. I would hate for anything to happen to all of your hard work. I know that you said you couldn’t last time, due to compiling errors - - I’d like to see if you could try this again.

I am able to build the Vechile Advanced.

I tried to copy over to 4.8 but i got the same compile error.

I honestly don’t know what’s wrong, I can really use 4.8 features and i need to build something soon anyway. My project has had issues in the history where i had to copy/merge it all over to a new project. I have other issues where i can’t build light if i have too much foliage in the scene due to the same out of ram error. While i have more than enough ram, could there be something wrong that’s not communicating good with my ram or something?

That post you linked appeared to be GPU ram? Which i’m not sure is not related?

And the content folder size = 7.42GB(that is with some assets i do not use and still need to clean up). I use Substance Database which uses up a bit of space aswell.

Have you updated the drivers for your graphics card anytime recently? The reason that I sent you that thread is because graphics cards also have memory on them and it could cause an issue if all of the memory is being used, or if there are old drivers conflicting. So, I would suggest looking into this further and see if that helps with what you’re running in to.

Also, since there are files that you’re no longer using in your project. I would suggest removing them from your folders and making sure they’re not referenced in any blueprint or level within your project. This will lower the size of your project in general, which should help your project package quicker.

Also, if you’d like us to try packaging your project here in-house, please go ahead and upload it online and provide a link to me in a private message on the forums. This way we can figure out whether or not it’s your project, or if it’s something within your settings. I’m leaning towards something with your project, since you were able to package Vehicle Advanced.
