Bug Report- Umg flickering for no reason

Hi, I created a title menu and when i go in preview mode well there is a offset flickering happening in the left and top side of my screen. Ive check my own screen center position, Ive tried to adjust canvas to my screen with no luck.
Ive made sure i was at the right screen resolution and i am (1920 *1080) For some reason it stops doing it when im in my project setting tab at the same time as the preview . oh and also it doesn’t do it in simulate also… Im really scratching my head with this one.

Hello Deathscyp,

I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.

Quick questions:

  1. Can you reproduce this issue in a clean project?
  2. If so, could you provide detailed list of steps to reproduce this issue on our end?
  3. Could you provide screen shots of any blueprints that may be involved with this issue?

Hey Rudy,
Thanks for the quick answer!

Ok i manage to recreate it.

Its when I had the ability to the player to use the mouse cursor that it starts flickering. Ive recreated it on a previous version of the engine also. 4.8 and 4.9 to be precise . I must be doing something wrong. This is an image of my level blue print. I didn’t do anything else but that in my level. Oh i also selected the default character player provided as a pawn. When testing make sure all of the windows in the editor except for the main view-port one be close to reproduce. I hope That help identify it.
Thank you.

I was unable to reproduce this issue on our end. I have a couple more questions for you.

Additional information:

  1. Could you provide screen shot of the widget blueprint that is being used?
  2. When you say that you are viewing it in “preview” do you mean the “Play in Editor” mode?

Sure, Well my widget blueprint doesn’t have much in it as you can see. 4 buttons and a vertical box in the canvas.
nothing in the graph.
And yes it only happens in the play in editor mode.
And its not because i didn’t rebuild lighting. i already tried that and its still happening.

I tried to reproduce this issue with the additional information. However, I was unable to do so. Would it be possible for you to provide the clean project that was used to recreate this issue?

How do i send it??

Did you make sure all the widow where closed where trying the game???
And in F11 mode like full screen?
just the editor is on and then it happens… not when the editor is on like lets say you leave a blueprint open or something then it wont do it. but once everything is close but the game and you play in f 11 with my setting it happens…

Sorry for the late respond Ive been away lately.

Hello Deathscyp,

To answer you question on how to send the project, you can do so by attaching it to a reply to this thread or you can provide it in a private message to me on the forums via dropbox or google drive. I hope that this helps.

As for the questions about the steps I took, I made sure to follow your instructions and I did several tests with minor variations and could not reproduce the flickering that you seeing.

HMM that’s weird that it doesn’t do it on your side. I created it in a flash on every project. And cant send it to you via here the max upload is 5mb…
I don’t have Dropbox. Anyways the problems doesn’t happen when the game is launch in simulation or and real play so looks like imma have to live with it. Thanks a lot for your time Rudy. If I ever fix it on my side Ill post the how and what I did on this tread so we can close it Eventually.

Best Regards.
