[Bug report] No transformation gizmos with mobile preview on

Hi ,

Have you had a yet to recreate transform widget bug (and LDR display bug) using steps I provided? It would be wonderful to have this put back on Epic’s radar, as this bug (and lack of selection outlines on ES2) makes level design for mobile very difficult with UE4.

HERE IS LATEST INFO:

In 4.13.2, bug is much easier to reproduce.

  1. Launch Engine (4.13.2) and open a new blank project (with basic floor plane and sky sphere).

  2. Set to target Mobile, Scalable, No Starter Content.

  3. When project launches, click on player start. You will see transform widget.

  4. Now click Settings > Preview Rendering Level > Android Preview.

  5. You will still see transform widget, but notice preview window has NOT updated to LDR, despite Mobile HDR being disabled by default in this new project.

  6. Now click Save and save map as NewMap, then close project.

  7. From launcher, open project again.

  8. Switch Preview Rendering Level back to Android Preview again.

  9. Notice LDR now shows correctly, AND transform widget has disappeared. Additionally, scale widget shows only triangle part of it. Only Rotate widget appears normal.

While selection outline is still not visible in ES2, Transform and Scale Widgets are back!!! Thank you so much Epic for fixing this in 4.14.0 !! I believe this release note may be referring to fix: “Bugfix: Fixed an issue with missing widgets when using Mobile Preview mode with a Mobile HDR disabled project.”

Awesome! Thank you again. So many other great features in this release as well, and some fantastic functionality added for mobile development too. :slight_smile:

I have solution.

Probably in your DefaultEngine.ini, you have “r.compileshadersfordevelopment” set to 0.

Setting it to 1 resolve problem.

[/Script/Engine.RendererSettings]

r.compileshadersfordevelopment=1

Chances are issue in no longer problematic to people in this thread but perhaps someone in future might stumble onto it and, like me, couldn’t find a solution in any of above.

Happened to me in 4.25.3 so I guess bug is still lurking around and under radar.

In order to fix it all I did was navigate to Viewport settings and toggle Game view. That’s it. Afterwards gizmo arrows magically came back to life.

i have the same bug in UE 5.3 in 2 diferents projects, the second time, i just was navigate in the project without change any property of the settings, and the move gizmo disappear, scale is a triangle and just rotate works normally…i use pc preview
