Hello all, reporting a problem with particle system here.
When you put absolute velocity in Particle’s Velocity/Life module, your particle’s initial position will be shifted by the same amount without calculating its rotation.
For example, if you put 3000 velocity in x, your particle will always be shifted 3m in world’s x coordinate.
I don’t get how this is overlooked and no one seems to be reporting any problems with it… But it’s currently making particle system unworkable for us. Hope this get fix real soon…
Just more clue to solve this puzzle. This seem to only be apparent when you really put in high number of velocity with very small life though…
I can understand how the particles’ initial position are calculated and how this generate problem with high velocity.
But darn… this is very hard for us to do complex particles. Its initial position shift every time we adjust its speed.
Hope more people back me up on this, so Epic will fix it. I’m sure you’ll run into this problem sooner or later…
Can you post this on the AnswerHubfor tracking and assignment?
It’s much easier to test, assign, and respond to potential bugs and crashes this way. Once you do post can you come back here and edit or post a new reply with the link to the AnswerHub thread?
Apparently, the shift is actaully caused by a bug in RibbonType data as you can see below. Sorry for a misunderstanding, but this is still a bug and I hope Epic would fix soon anyway.
Can’t really get my team to work on complex particles at all…
