[bug]Assertion Failed during Static Mesh Import

In the September build I have tried to import my city, which is divided into something like 20 chunks, each under the old poly limit, which as I understand should be no longer relevant - but I say this because previously I was able to import the exact same work into UDK/UE3 just fine.

Beyond meshes, the FBX includes several PNG textures, which are not power of 2, it is a binary FBX 2013 file. Meshes are triangulated. I have tried a few different import options for calculating normals and tangents. Each time, I receive the following log and a crash:

I notice the array out of range line and it causes me to wonder if there is some kind of new limitation on how many assets can be imported per FBX?

I don’t think that’s the problem. I imported an FBX with 25 parts a couple of weeks ago with no problem.

I have a few questions for you:

  • What software did you use to export the FBX?
  • Have you attempted to re-export the FBX using different settings? (what is your result?)
  • Have you tried exporting/importing other assets similar to the one that crashes? (what is your result?)

  1. Autodesk Maya 2013.
  2. I tried it as an ASCII FBX, which didn’t make any difference, except that the FBX was now like 350 mb instead of 70.
  3. No I haven’t, since I don’t have any similar assets, it took a long time to prepare the city for use in UDK originally and I was testing to see how it would look in Rocket now.

This is the first thing I have actually attempted importing to Rocket at all, so I will try a variety of things and see what happens.

Thanks for the answers. Have you had a chance to see if any other imported assets caused a crash for you?

Also, would you be willing to send us the FBX that causes the crash so that we can try to reproduce the issue internally?
