Exactly as the title says. Animation mode switches from “use animation asset” to “use animation blueprint” after exiting out of matinee.
Anything I am not doing right? It gets a little annoying when testing out different animations and having to switch the modes back.

I have attempted to reproduce this issue, but I may not have all of the information necessary.
I added a SkeletalMesh to the level, in its Details I set Animation Mode to “Use Animation Asset”, and I assigned an Animation to it. I then launch Matinee, and exit Matinee. At this point the SkeletalMesh actor is still set to use Animation Asset.
Can you please clarify how you are able to reproduce this issue?

The way I’ve gotten it to happen:
I have two levels. One level with my environment geometry and another with my character related things.
I load the character level into the already open environment map, set to always loaded in the levels tab, I add skeletal mesh to my character level, drag and drop an animation from the content browser, open up matinee, scrubb through (or not, not sure if it matters), pop back out and then it changes animation mode.
Let me know if you need any more information.
Edit: actually nevermind. As soon as I enter matinee it will switch modes. In this particular case, I am also am using a movement track on the skeletal mesh inside matinee.
Edit 2: Apparently it likes to switch it up, sometimes it wont change modes when entering matinee and will wait until you have exited matinee to switch modes,

I have not been able to reproduce the issue as you described. Is it occurring with a Matinee you are already using? Does the same issue occur if you attempt this with a new Matinee?

I’m getting the same issue. Any time I leave the matinee, but animation mode switches to Use Animation Blueprint instead of Use Animation Asset.
When I get a chance to investigate I’ll report back with a scene, but under the pump right now.
Gosh, this post is quite old but I was having the same issue today too.
I think the problem was that when I first made the Group for the Skeletal Meshes, I went ahead and deleted their Animation Tracks, and just kept the Movement Track. And this caused it to keep switching on Matinee exit.
Adding an Animation Track back solved it for me though xD;
