BUG 511: Crash on .PTX import

Hi

We are experiencing quite a lot of crashes while importing .PTX files. We seem to have some files that just wont import and cause the program to constantly crash.

The files range in size from 1-5gb up to 140gb some are Geo-referenced and some are not, some have colour some dont…

We are exporting the data from Leica Cyclone V9.0.2

Any advice as it always seems to be the really interesting projects that don’t import!

Hi Al Rawlinson

Can send us the problematic PTX files packed with WinRAR so they get smallest possible size ?

If it crash dont start the RC, but search on system drive for this file RealityCapture.log and send to us.
The crash log ( if uploaded ) help us to see where it crash but to solve it we need to get the data to inspect it and say what can be done.

For now as we work with many PTX source data and not get intro this issues so would be best to see the data…

Great thanks.

Ill try and recreate the problem with some data i can send. Unfortunately the two projects im having the most trouble with have restrictions on access to the data.

Cheers

Al

Hi Al Rawlinson

Ok understand the restriction.
if are you experienced try look in the PTX if its not something wrong in the file.

To update on this issue, we are still encountering problems of crashing while loading .PTX files from Leica Cyclone V9.1. We have tested this with files from the same scans exported from Z+F Laser Control and they seem to work fine.

Is anybody else experiencing this problem? We have tested on 2 different machines with the same problem.

Hi Al Rawlinson

Are you using official release of Cyclone V9.1 or some “beta” or “preview” version of it ?

Are you experienced with PTX file inspection ? if yes take a look with good text editor if the structure is OK in the PTX as we have observed compatibility issues from Cyclone in last few weeks.

Hello,

Did you use the Demo version or a licensed version? If you are experiencing the problem with demo version then it should be fixed starting version 1931.
We have some fixes in the laser import in general so please check the version 1931 or greater.
Thanks.
