I got a crash after maybe 20 hours of calculating a model at “High quality” (1284 cameras, 16 MPix). I don’t know if the crash occured after the calculation had finished or before. The last time i had looked at the screen was maybe one or two hours before. I tried to send the crash report but it doesn’t work. So i attached it here.
I noticed that the crash happened at 100GB temp data.
I think that could be same issue i’ve reported to Milos 2 months ago. It did’nt crashed completely, only ended reconstruction with “Application ran out of memory” error, even when memory was half emty.
Second weird thing is, that memory usage was almost constat and very low whole time:
…but after crossing 80%, something started to happen:
and at 81% it crashed.
And the third weird thing: number of vertices in components was constantly decreasing. It was around 500 000 at start but only around 200 at the end:
It happened to me in more projects and it was always around 82 - 85% of processing parts.
I have rerun the “high quality” calculation yesterday and this time it finished (after 21 hours).

Can confirm that all cameras are properly aligned and NO “cracks” are seen ?
can PM me screenshots to milos.lukac@capturingreality.com
Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean by “cracks”. I have one component showing 1284 cameras as aligned - out of 1320 cameras in total if i remember correctly. What screens would you need?
So in short what is the difference between project that could not be reconstructed and second run, what was successful ?
what have changed so its work this time ?
I always get a crash following by PC restart during Reconstruction in High Detail, but everything is okay when set in Normal Detail. And it doesn’t matter if the number of photos is small or big.
Hello Wishgranter. Looks that the restarts were not a problem of the application or overheating. PSU is 400W. I will watch it further and try to find the reason. Or it’s just a sign to upgrade all the hardware, not only GPU.
The main problem here is the PSU are aging, that mean they loose its max power approx 5-10 % a year
And if have it from say 2008 its max power can be in range of 350-330w what can be issue when it drain power
for longer period ( HIGH recon ) it can cause power delivery hiccups and can crash easily.
let me know how much Watts is using ( filling out the EXPERT menu in the link ).
Thanks for the link, useful website. Result is: Load Wattage: 330 W / Recommended PSU Wattage: 380 W.
Although the current PSU is three years old, I also think this can be a source of trouble. Time to upgrade the hardware.
I am having the same issue, my PC is not bad either (i10th Gen, 128GB RAM, RTX 3060 12GB).
Still I am getting the same error. However after clearing up cache before starting the porject helped alot on few assets but now even with clearing up cache is not helping at all
Hi L1FEBLOOD1,
is this also happening for Normal detail reconstruction?
Is it happening after you make clean install (open RealityCapture with pushed SHIFT and choose option Make it like a clean install)?
What are your reconstruction settings?
