Bug 3974: Defect on texture

Hi,

After we align, calculate geometry, simplify and unwrap (4K x 1 texture) some models end up having little unexpected defects on the texture.

Please see it in the attachment.

Any idea of the problem ?

I would guess that there are holes in the mesh as a result from the simplification. There is already a post about that in the bug forum.

Check if the pictures posted there show the same defects as yours.

However, we assume that this is not a bug but an alignment problem. We mean that there can be a few wrongly aligned images that actually cause that the algorithm fights between the good and the bad solution and delivers the “hole”. This explains also the behavior when you disable some cameras for meshing.

Hi alper

you had original reconstructed model and then have you SIMPLIFIED it and post-process outside of RC or its direct work in RC only ? If in RC only have you used SIMPLIFY more than once, mean if you SIMPLIFY the model in more steps ?

Did search the forum and nothing came through. Also I don’t believe it is the same problem.

Alignment is definitely not the problem, we did bunch of tests and problem seems to be on the Unwrap tool.

Without using Unwrap file looks amazing, if we apply unwrap we see these points. Do you want to make a test on your end with the images ?

You can send us the project and our software developers will have a look at it.
