Bubbling mud particle effects (help)

Hi there.

I am making a scene that has a hot mud pit.
I would like to make an effect that shows the mud bubbling, the bubbles increase in size then pop.

Can anyone help me with this?
I’m very new to cascade/Niagara, so any tutorial links or help would be greatly appreciated.

I quite often think outside the box

I just thought that you could have a plane and have multiple instances spheres rising up through it and destroying them when they are at the half way point, then spawn a particle effect burst.
