TITLE: Sr. Real-time Lighter (UE4)

LOCATION: Remote / PST Time Zone / Los Angeles

Brud, the studio behind Lil’ Miquela, is looking for an experienced UE4 Lighting TD.

The Sr. Real-time Lighter will focus on lighting and look development, creating strong and appealing character and environment lighting and shaders in the Unreal Engine. The candidate must have high level experience lighting in real-time and VFX workflows, with a deep understanding of appealing and artistic lighting and cinematography with an understanding of PBR and game-engine workflows. The candidate will work on character-driven projects and stories with the real-time production team in the Unreal Engine. The candidate should have a great artistic eye, strong technical skills in Unreal Engine, a problem-solving drive, an interest and passion in pursuing and pushing new ideas, and the ability to work collaboratively with a creative team. The ideal candidate would help push the visual fidelity of lighting, characters, environments, and help us innovate in pushing new technology, and workflows.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND STRENGTHS:

  • Strong eye for lighting and cinematography
  • Strong eye for look development and strong attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine, and strong knowledge of Maya
  • Experience creating shaders and blueprints in Unreal Engine
  • Experience in PBR workflows
  • Avid interest in new technologies
  • Ability to work well with other artists and creatives
  • Ability and desire to learn quickly and push boundaries

DESCRIPTION

As a Senior Software Engineer at Brud, specializing in Unreal Engine 4 and C++, you will be responsible for developing a high priority project requiring you to develop packaged applications and plugins in UE4. To be successful in this role, you’ll need a strong understanding of building end-to-end applications/games in UE4, and be driven to ship products quickly without sacrificing code and UX quality.

As a member of the Brud team, you will work alongside a small cross-functional team that will challenge you to grow, and encourage you to provide creative and technical input, and make key decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing and maintaining Brud’s Unreal Engine 4 applications and plugins.
  • Research and development of motion capture, ARKit, and other technologies using Unreal Engine 4.
  • A commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • A growth mindset and a desire to learn, teach, and improve skills across the team.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Senior-level engineering experience.
  • Advanced experience in C++ and Unreal Engine development.
  • Experience with building Unreal Engine applications is preferred.
  • Experience with motion capture and/or ARKit a plus.
  • User-focused with a good eye for UX a plus.

This is a contractor role on a project basis with the potential for full-time employment.
