Broken Forum - Again.

It would be really nice if you hired a team capable of doing A/B testing and validation BEFORE pushing out changes that break functionality for everyone…

It’s even worse for mobile browsers.
The panel you see in the image’s top right is overlaid to the rest of the forum making it illegible.

Same here.

The app is unusable as of now. You cannot dismiss this panel:

The button is missing, the panel takes half the screen. And the navigation jerks you around all over the place. Please kindly unbreak it.

It seems they did something - wrong again ofc.

Theres a half a panel stuck to the top which cant be dismissed and is preventing acfess to the base functions…

Though the desktop version over mobile is identical.

What id like to know (aside why epic likes to hire people who arent good at their job when so many decent web developers are already on their payroll) is why they are doing this on the Live forum.

Ever herd of a development environment?
Its not like the forum board we all told you not to get but you got anyway needs extra licensing to run a dev envoron… oh wait… well either way, you are epic. You waste time suing minors for cheating fortnite ffs… cant you just get an extra license for the dev environment anyway with some of that lawyer money? XP

Hey folks, we had an update rolling out - could you let me know if you’re still having this behavior?

There’s a bunch of odd behaviours:

  • on desktop, clicking notifications opens the thread but scrubs the site to the very bottom:
Yay, fixed!

  • on mobile, you can’t even do it since the panel on the left cannot be dismissed:
Yay, fixed!

  • on mobile, one cannot really type properly:
Yay, fixed!

The first line is obstructed by the new DEV panel.

  • this panel is clipped when clicking users:

  • sliders overlap:
Yay, fixed!

  • the slider seems to misbehave badly in general:
Yay, fixed!

Thank you for the detail @Everynone! I’ll pass that along.

There is all sorts of issues.
The sane thing would be to roll back changes and test in a dev envoronment before releasing…

Seems like it got better / is somewhat usable now

Still issues just about everywhere though.

The bottom of the site is also not accesible unless you are actively typing a response.

Seems they attempted to patch the overlay at the top by giving it some sort of a background.

The problem there is the background doesn’t kick in immidiately, so it still looks broken halfway down a topic.

Aside from that, im really not a fan of wasting these 100 or so pixels of space on absolutely nothing.

We know we are on epic’s site. We know we are in the dev site. We don’t really need the hamburger menu stuff.

Particularly since all that top fluff is useless.
The controls we all use are right under that.
Home of forum / forum menu / profile notifications.

Additionally the bottom of the forum is still out of reach on most mobiles…

@Flak

Does anyone do any device testing what so ever?
Is having 3 lines of text to reply to messages something that seems at all desireable to anyone?

An ‘Enter fullscreen composer’ option, like with the web-version would help. Even with the screen-space lost to the virtual keyboard, there’s still more space available. That said Epic still need to fix long-running Forum REPLY bugs too. For example, has this sort of thing ever happened to anyone else?

You type up a long message and hit reply. But you’ve accidentally gone offline… What happens now? You lose the entire post. :rage: Why? Clicking on ‘Keep editing’ never does anything, and never has, even when you reconnect. Clicking ‘Discard’ works just fine though, which is obviously super-helpful. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Could you enquire with the team whether we’re getting user cards back (not sure what the correct term is) - just like yours that be can be seen in my post above.

It was a nice quick overview of the user; now we’re taken directly to the About instead, away from the post/thread.
