Hello everyone,
Since the introduction of the Fab Marketplace plugin, I’ve been experiencing several issues when importing assets; materials not being linked, missing files, broken animations.
Recently, I had a particularly difficult time importing an animation I purchased.
When using the “Add to Project” option from the Fab plugin window, the animations end up broken inside the engine.
I’d like to share a workaround that worked for me.
So far, the only reliable solution I’ve found is to use the Fab tab INSIDE the Epic Games Launcher, which is different from the Fab tab you can find when you “+Add” in Unreal !
From there, I download the assets as a ZIP file.
Then, I navigate to the download location, in my case :
C:\ProgramData\Epic\EpicGamesLauncher\VaultCache
Manually import them into my project’s Content folder.
This method properly triggers the pop up animation settings window, which does not appear when importing assets directly from the marketplace !
Animations are finally working correctly using this workflow, no broken bones anymore.
I really hope Epic improves the Fab plugin soon, as it’s currently frustrating to work with.
Cheers !
