Brick WizSamson | Unreal Engine Halloween Animation 4K HDR

Hi everyone! :waving_hand:

Just wanted to share our latest Halloween project, made together with my kiddo - a mix of a short brick-style animation and a 2-hour haunted ambience, created in Unreal Engine.

It’s a fan-made world inspired by the charm of LEGO and Playmobil-style storytelling - a quiet brick city, a mysterious pizza delivery that turns into a zombie encounter, and a moody ambience loop for Halloween night. :brick::skull:

I rendered everything in HDR, which I always prefer for its look (even if YouTube makes you wait forever to confirm that “HDR” tag ). It finally processed today, so both videos are live in full 4K HDR glory! If anyone here’s experimenting with HDR workflows, feel free to ask - happy to share and help you out.

Would love to hear what you all think and whether we should keep expanding this world with other kinds of brick zombies next time. :man_zombie:

Big thanks to the Unreal Engine team for always supporting indie creators like us and hey, @PresumptivePanda, hope you’re doing great and thanks again for your kind words on past posts!

If the team’s looking for some fun community picks this week, we’d be super honored to be considered for the Halloween Staff Pick feature. :jack_o_lantern::eyes:

Hi again @Mr.Hrundel,

Hope you’re well and having a wonderful week so far

Thanks for the shout out, always excited to see new projects. Especially ones with zombie lego creatures. :jack_o_lantern: As per usual, you absolutely nailed the lighting and animation. But it was really the costumes that made this project feel so gosh darn charming. Incredible work, as always!

Did you happen to have a “favorite” part of this project during development?

Hi @PresumptivePanda!

It’s so good to hear from you - hope you’re having an amazing week too! The weather here in Toronto has been incredible lately: all red and yellow leaves under bright sun, just the perfect mood for Halloween. :jack_o_lantern:

Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m really glad you enjoyed it and I hope other community members do as well. I always aim for perfection (and of course already see a few things I’d tweak ), but we were racing the clock to get it out before Halloween night. That Hdr tag on YouTube can really test your patience sometimes.

As for my favorite part - it’s definitely the process of translating emotion through lighting, sound, camera. Unreal Engine makes that feel almost magical. Every time I create with it, I’m amazed by how accessible (Kudos UE) and powerful it’s become for indie creators -especially considering how far things have come over the years. The fact that we can now achieve this level of quality right from a home computer still blows my mind.

Thanks again for stopping by and for always being so encouraging - it really means a lot. :folded_hands:

Cheers,
Nick
