Brainy Pixel's Concept Art - Codename: ISLAND JACK

We’re using UE4 to create a feature film (codenamed ISLAND JACK) and I thought I’d share some of our stellar concept art here for folks to see. I’ll be posting one piece a week for the next several weeks and would love to hear what everyone thinks. Please feel free to let me know below. :slight_smile:

I’d love to chat with folks who might have some tips or tricks on modeling, texturing, and rigging for environments for something like this. At the base of the JUNK LORD’S DOMAIN sits a FLOODED CITY. Long, long ago, this CITY was the central nerve center of the entire ISLAND. Hey UE4’ers! It’s Friday again, and you know what that means…more concept art from Brainy Pixel and the ISLAND JACK project…


Downstream from the FLOODED CITY lies the DIESEL DISMALS - a fetid swamp of flotsam from the destruction of the FLOODED CITY itself amid run-off fluids from ancient robots and power cores that once ran the ISLAND. Now, HARVESTER BOTS and SCANNER BOTS patrol the swamp, seeking ancient power cores that twinkling like stars in the dark swamp.

Not far from the FLOODED CITY lies one of the ancient test sites from the ISLAND’s functioning days. The NAVIGATION CANYON was a custom-built modular obstacle course used to test robot’s navigation, adaptation, and durability features. Now it has become a long, deep canyon filled with booby-trap like obstacles.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on these designs. What are some challenges that might lie ahead for us as we design, model, and texture these environments?

In another area of the ISLAND is a secret ARCTIC TEST SITE. Who knows what mysterious technologies, power sources, and beings lie in await discovery, long-buried in cold storage?

THETA FALLS is a gloriously beautiful and deeply mysterious location on the ISLAND. Once a power generation facility, now, it glows and hums at night and no one knows why…

The FORSAKEN LANDS are a mysterious robot graveyard, patrolled by unusual SCAVBOTS. No one knows what they’re protecting…or searching for amid the ruined husks of long-dead bots and machinery…

The OSTRICH PLAINS was once inhabited by fast-moving and agile robots and was used for testing their speed, agility, and auto-navigation properties. Now it’s inhabited by wild, roaming OSTRICHBOTS who stride alongside massive TREE TOWERS. No one now recalls what the TREE TOWERS were for, or how to gain access into them…

Upon RECYCLE ISLAND are a group of cast-off robots known as SCAVENGERS that scrounge the ISLAND for everything they need to survive. Through their ingenuity and cooperation, they’ve managed to cobble together an impressive and stunning VILLAGE…

We’d love to hear from you about some smart ways to model and texture this monstrosity! We cannot wait to see it realized in 3D in the Unreal Engine. :slight_smile:
