Brad Babines - Tiered Fantasy Armor Materials - 16 PBR Materials for Unreal Engine

A tiered progression system of 16 premium PBR materials designed for fantasy armor, but can also be used for weapons and props in Unreal Engine. Each tier represents escalating craftsmanship quality—from flawed common metals to epic masterwork finishes with exotic techniques like mokume-gane and iridescent effects.

Material Tiers

Tier 1: Common Flawed craftsmanship and damaged materials—cracked surfaces, crude hammering, and oxidized finishes.

Tier 2: Uncommon Weathered but functional metals—aged finishes and surface wear on solid craftsmanship.

Tier 3: Rare Refined metalworking techniques—anodized finishes, pattern-welded steel, and polished surfaces without flaws.

Tier 4: Epic Masterwork artistry with exotic techniques—iridescent layering, Japanese mokume-gane, ornate inlays, and vivid decorative treatments.
