I have a BP that has a mesh. But neither has collision options. Why?
Hey @Nc0re!
Would you mind sharing screenshots of your BP so we can get a better idea of what problem you are currently facing?
In the meantime
- Have you added a collider like a capsule component to your BP?
- To edit the collision of a static mesh, you need to open the SM asset and change collision there.
- To edit the collision of a skeletal mesh, you need to edit/add a physics mesh to the SKM.
Any additional information you can provide will be a big help in solving your problem!
Hey @Nc0re. Look like the component you have there “StaticMeshActor_2” is a ChildActor component and not a StaticMeshComponent as it probably should. It may be the case that there is no collision being shown because your actor doesn’t have any. And because that component is a ChildActor, it probably means that the collision settings are stored in that StaticMeshActor separately from your “BP_GameBoard” actor.
So remove that component and instead use a StaticMeshComponent. And if you need collisions, it is probably best that you use a BoxCollisionComponent (maybe even adding many box collision components could be useful, although I’m not sure how many collisions behave in one actor). If a box is not enough then you may use the collisions of your static mesh, ideally if the collisions for that mesh have been optimized.
