# boolean to collision?

Hello,

I have a problem and I hope that someone can help me solve it

The issue:

I have a wall that is 30mm thick, and I want to add an electrical socket (Static mesh) that is also 30mm thick (20mm goes into the wall, and 10mm remains outside).

The problem is that when I embed the 20mm of the socket into the wall, there is a hole in the socket where the wall is (logically ).

I know how to solve this problem by first cutting a hole in the wall with a boolean operation and then placing the socket in the hole (just like in the real world :P).

Since this process is very long and impractical, I’m wondering how you other experts handle these situations.
Is there a way to attach a boolean operation to the collision of the static mesh?

Thank you for any assistance

You can make the wall a masked material and use some math to cut the hole in the wall where you want the socket.

You could try and find ‘wall socket decals’ somewhere, otherwise it’s cutting holes

These are drain decals, same principle. I didn’t look through the whole market, but I don’t think there are any
