Bone and Socket Rename Surgeon finds and fixes outdated bone and socket names across an Unreal Engine project. Renaming a socket in the Skeleton Tree leaves attached Blueprint components, Name variables, Socket Name pins and anim notifies holding the old name, with no error or warning. The effect then spawns at the character origin.
The audit mode writes nothing. It uses the asset registry to find every asset that references the skeleton, reads each stored bone and socket name, and lists the ones that match nothing along with every place that holds them. A FailOnDangling switch lets it run in CI.
The rename mode updates those references in a single run, compiles each touched Blueprint once, reindexes physics assets, saves, and scans again from scratch. It refuses before writing when the new name already exists as a bone or socket. FName ignores case, so weapon_r and Weapon_R collide on the UE5 mannequin. Every change is journalled and Undo restores it byte for byte.
