Dear Unreal community,
I’ve been having an issue with character shadows in my latest render. Depending on the distance of the camera, my animated character’s shadows become blocky and inaccurate (especially at their feet). The issue is resolved as soon as I move the camera closer; however, I would like to have the option of doing extreme wide-shots.
I have tried switching to ray-traced shadows, but the issue persists. I’ve seen people solving shadow issues on Nanite meshes through various console commands, but this doesn’t seem to be the case here. I’m also a bit cautious of going crazy with console commands, like experimenting with ray-tracing culling etc., not to make a mess of the project settings and other scenes I’ve built in the same level.
The static object shadows are softer but don’t seem to have the same problem in the scene. I reckon this is because they’re not animated and moving…
Does anyone know of a command or setting that affects the resolution/accuracy of such character shadows?
Thank you and cheers in advance!
