Blimp Sci-fi Blade runner X-Mutant
Finally! After so much time and effort, I am sharing with you this animated sequence about the Blimp from Bladerunner, or what appears to be, as this is a rather mutant version that evolved over time.
I had the pleasure and excitement of conceptualizing the entire sequence and its direction, animating the blimp, and the flying cars traffic (spinners), modeling the main and secondary ships along with all assets and buildings, complete with their respective textures and materials. the city design and lighting, camera animations, special effects, and the most enjoyable part was assembling everything into Unreal Engine, and achieve exporting a quality and lovely quality render.
The audio track was expertly composed by my dear friend Andres Ruiz of RinRi Studio, who infused it with all the spirit and energy for which I will forever be grateful for his wonderful creativity and positive vibes.

Welcome to the Unreal Engine forums. It’s Epic to have you here!
Oh wow, this looks insanely cool! The design of the blimp itself, the wonderfully dystopian environment, and the hazy smog of the city itself creates such an awesome ambient feeling. Seeing all the different pieces of the project that you worked on from the animation of the blimp itself to the camera effects - it’s all those tiny details that makes a project like this come to life. Incredible work!
Was this a single project or part of a larger film/game?
First of all, I greatly appreciate your appreciation and words; it’s something very important to me and warms my heart.
This was a unique project, as it all began with a photo of the original model of the Blimp used in the movie. When I saw that photo, I decided to create that model because I love miniatures and wanted something that would be a challenge. Once I had the model, I decided I wanted to have it traveling over the city, and what better tool than Unreal Engine. I had zero knowledge of Unreal, so I had to learn how to use many things to achieve what I wanted. I didn’t have characters or anything like that either, and I wanted the animation to be simple and more contemplative, a situation over a city in a dystopian world on an ordinary day. I really enjoyed working on this project, sometimes with a lot of fatigue but also enthusiasm for what I was achieving. It was something beautiful and enriching to create.
I’m absolutely thrilled for you and your Unreal experience. It’s definitely a long journey but for one of your first pieces with the engine, you’ve done a wonderful job.
Sending you lots of support in your future endeavors and I hope to see more of your work
