Blender to Unreal FBX always scales wrong with skeletal mesh imports

I’m trying to import skeletal mesh from Blender 4.4 to Unreal Engine 5.4 via FBX file and scale is never consistent.

At first, skeleton shrunk mesh down by 100 times.

Now everything appears normal size but turns out its just scaling root bone of skeleton by 100 times.

I’ve tried a bunch of different export/import settings on both Blender and Unreal and given up.

Tried setting Blender unit scale to 0.01 meters, UE5 uniform import scale to 100, and have messed around with a bunch of other settings to no avail.

Am I doing something wrong? Or do I just have to accept the scales wont be consistent and move on?

Hello there @neonflamingo88!

That does sound like Unreal and Blender shenanigans, indeed. They don’t have the best relation, and that’s the cause for many scenario like this one.

The usual approach would be to reset export/import settings in both UE and Blender, in order to rule out any conflicts between either configuration. After that, test importing your skeletons again.

If the issue persists, please test the method detailed here, it’s mainly intended for rigged/animated assets, but I have find it useful for anything related with skeletal meshes.
