Blender and animations

Hey guys! I have one small question. I’ve made my first human model and a model of a riffle. I want to create reloading animations which I can import into UE4.
If I create an animation for both models in one blender file, how can I export animations so the UE4 will know there are two models that are required for the animation?

Your best bet is to import them separate and attach the gun to a socket you make in unreal 4.

Greetings,

So weapon sockets are just used to attach any model to your character? I’ll try something with that for sure.

basically yes you can attach a weapon to a socket or for instance a floating body part providing there are bones to connect to.

I don’t know how the best way is to go about animating but the animation for reloading will include the body part(hands and arms) for fps and in third person or top the hole character will be in view so perhap animate a reloading sequence for the body and gun and make them trigger at the same time in the bp when you pres the reload key.

Perhaps someone with more experience in animating can provide examples.

Greetings,

FYI You can also use empties in Blender to create the sockets. Just call them SOCKET_nameofsocket . Its much faster than making/modifying them in the editor

Thanks for the help guys!

Nice to know for when I’m using blender, ty
