Black Screen in editor [UE5-0]

When I hover mouse on anything different that scene, my whole screen becomes black and UE5 crashes few seconds after. I have my drivers updated, UE4 worked perfectly.

My PC:
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070
CPU: i5-10600K 4.10GHz
RAM: 16GB

Crash message:

Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x0000000000000018

This is a ridiculous problem I faced a few days ago with UE4. I hadn’t opened it in about 2 months, and upon opening it up, any sort of hover over the interface buttons would turn the screen black, although I didn’t experience any crashes.

The way I got it fixed was by installing an older NVIDIA driver update, rebooting my PC, and then a couple of days later I again updated the latest update since I wanted to use UE5 with no issues, but I believe you could do it immediately after installing the old one.

Hopefully, this helps!

I had exact problem but without crashing and after installing Game ready 511.79 Nvidia drivers with “Clean” installation everything displays as it should. I hope this will help you)

I was having the same issue and what fixed it for me was disabling MFAA in my Nvidia Control Panel. Really weird

it works !! tnx

Thanks for posting this. It fixed my same issues as well. :+1:

Disabling MFAA and restarting UE 5.0.3 fixed it for me.

I went through a 6 hour reinstall, and then the problem still persisted - it was time to google. Next time googling first!

Thank you! It fixed my problem.

Thank you, this worked for me as well. However, isn’t MFAA necessary for VR development? especially for text and UI elements?

Disabling MFAA worked for me at first, but now my whole computer freezes and the screen turns black every time I have an unreal engine 5.0.3 project open for a few minutes, so I have to hard restart the PC.

Disabling MFAA in my Nvidia Control Panel has worked, for now. No PC restart required, only restart of UE.

Thank you for your post.
