Big problem, after 4 years of ue4, my map suddenly won't open

Hello, my project crashed yesterday- normally no big deal- but since reopening I can’t access my main level. It’s an open-world project, so I have years spent on this single level. I have updated Unreal Engine 4 to its latest version, but every time I try to open my map I get-

“Failed to open map file. This is most likely because the map was saved with a newer version of the engine.”

I also have various backup maps on USB devices- but now they are all saying the same thing and locking me out.

I’m at a bit of a loss for what to do- any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much

Hey there @Cogganator! Welcome back to the community! If a file is corrupted or created in a custom source version of the engine you can often get this warning even if it was built for the correct engine version. Though that wouldn’t explain the other versions also acting this way.

Try snagging one of the autosaved versions and see if they open in your project’s version correctly.

Also, just for records sake this is 4.27 right?
