Better Hardware, Worse Performance

I recently got a new computer to replace my old laptop, and for some reason UE4 runs incredibly poorly. Where I was able to get 25-45 frames per second on my laptop, I now can’t get over 15 on my new desktop.

My laptop’s specs:
Win7 premium 64-bit |
Intel core i5-3210M 2.5GHz processor |
8GB RAM |
Intel HD 4000 graphics card

My desktop:
Win10 pro 64-bit |
Intel core i7-6700 3.4GHz processor |
16GB RAM |
Intel HD 530 graphics card

Same resolution for both. What steps should I take(aside from purchasing new parts) to make UE4 run as optimally or better than my laptop?

Aside from an old Nvidia 9400, Intel’s all I got. My main concern is that, despite my hardware being “better”(even if very slightly) I cannot get near the same results in UE4 as my laptop, which is incredibly troubling to me.

Do you have any high performance GPU? Intel build-in GPU is not that great for games

Can you disable Intel GPU and use NVidia only? Something tells me that that Intel is a issue, also i assume you mean GT940 not GF9400? :stuck_out_tongue:

Sadly I really do mean GF9400, and results are much the same, can’t break 15fps. Posted DXDiag text files for more clarity.

You really mean GT9400 like this?

If yes they i’m suppriced you are suppriced by performance, i run UE4 on 9600GT and i need to disable lot of things to make it work atleast 30FPS.

I am super embarrassed right now. It turns out my computer was using JUST the geforce 9400, which couldn’t handle UE4 at all. Removed it from my computer completely and UE4 runs like a dream now. Sorry for wasting your time folks!
