Better Compatibility for Laptop-Users

Hi, I want to make a suggestion about the UE4 Launcher and Editor.

I’m hoping that in the future, there might be a lighter version or some kind of option that sets the launcher/editor to run smoother and better on laptop computers.

My laptop is 4 GB ram.
I don’t have the funds nor means to use anything better than that.
But I want to use Unreal Engine 4.

On launch, when I installed this (back when it was first released for free), the launcher was very slow and lagging. And the editor itself crashed my pc immediately after opening.

HOWEVER, after the 4.9.1 update that issue has been fixed.

I’m glad that by the time I decided to give Unreal a chance again, they had fixed whatever was wrong with it.
Now the launcher runs smooth and quick and the editor is good too.

HOWEVER, “sadly”, I’m facing another issue.

Whenever I move around in the menus or simply just glide my mouse over the screen, this weird glitchy effect appears. Like, words start jumbling all over the place. And there are streaks of color lines gliding across the screen in a static buggy fashion.

Here is a picture. Look to the top left and you’ll see the words are jumbled out of place. At the time this was happening, not only were they jumbled but it was flashing.

The best thing I can compare this to is like when you’re watching cable TV and there’s a rain storm or something so then your TV starts pixelizing and jumbling the picture. I think DirectTV has this problem a lot because of the satellite dish.

That’s the effect I get whenever I move my mouse over the menus and sometimes when I glide the mouse across/over the screen.

This ONLY happens in this launcher/editor.
Adobe Photoshop, mmorpg’s like Vindictus, etc. don’t do this kind of thing. They never have. So I’m not sure why Unreal, in specific, is doing this.
And as I’ve said before,
when I had the first “free” released version, it didn’t do anything like this at all. The editor crashed upon opening “back then” so I can’t speak for the editor at “that time”. But the launcher, despite being slow, didn’t do anything disruptive to my display screen or jumble around words and colors in the application. <– This is back in the old version.

Now in 4.9.1 it doesn’t crash, it doesn’t slow down. It runs smoothly. But it has this weird visual glitchy static effect when I wave the mouse around and use menus that are within the launcher/editor.

So, regardless, I can still use the editor SMOOTHLY which is good.

But this weird static glitchy effect that is happening on my screen is both bothersome and worrisome.

As I said before, even if I cannot be given a resolution to this issue,
I am hoping, suggesting, and requesting
that Unreal Engine 4,
with its next patch updates, tries to be less taxing on the computers and laptops.

I know it wasn’t originally designed for “low-end” users like me. But I don’t want to be deprived of being able to use this program just because I can’t afford a desktop PC.

I don’t expect a solution/answer to this problem.
I think it’s safe to say there is none at this point in time.

I just want to pass this suggestion and request of Unreal being a bit more considerate to the low-end users and hope to be heard. That’s all.

Like I said, they did an EXCELLENT job with the 4.9.1 update.
It just seems like there’s a few slight issues that are left.
And I just want to bring that to the attention of whoever’s responsible for this program.

So, forum moderators, please DO NOT move this to the bugs/glitch/help section because that’s not really what the post’s intention is. I don’t expect any kind of solution or answer to this problem besides a possible update / patch in the future.

In advance,
thanks
for reading & for whatever helpful updates and advice you give in the future.
