Best way for tree foilage

I want to make a forest with a lot of grass and trees using foilage but when I do this my FPS goes down to about 20 from 120, any idea of a better way to do this or optimize this?

If your foliage is high-poly, are you using LODs on it?

Do your materials/ texture maps have a lot of blank alpha channel space on them? This adds up. There is a viewmode that can show if you have a lot of overlapping mesh planes due to blank alpha texturing.

Try very simple foliage. The “Temperate Vegetation: Foliage Collection” or the “Interactive Open World Foliage” packs from the Marketplace work well with very little FPS performance loss.
