Be With Her - A Human Interactive VR Experience

I’d like to inform you guys about my project “Be With Her”. “Be With Her” is a experience game, fully build for VR, with the use of motion controllers. I started the project almost 2 years ago and finally I got to the point I feel I can show it to the outside world.

First let me introduce myself. My name is Mark van der Velde, a Dutch programmer. In the early nineties I got my first VR experience. I’ve been fascinated by VR ever since then, in particular after DK1 was released.
I played a lot of demo’s and I was searching for more human like experiences in VR. I couldn’t find what I was looking for. Which made me decide to start this project.

In the game you find yourself in a apartment with your next door neighbor. She is a friend. The aim is to build a relationship with her and ultimately to fall in love. Her ‘love-level’ raises if you are attentive to her needs. You’ll notice more and more intimacy in speech and actions.

Be With Her is a single player game build for VR only with motion controllers like the Oculus Touch en HTC Vive. Everything can be picked up or used in some way by the player or by the female character. The game aims to be a maximum comfortable experience, in which the player can immersively Be With Her.

I finally got a video online which demonstrates the advanced inverse kinematic feature of the game. It is possible to grab the hands of the character and she can even walk along with you.
The touch feature is a delegate balance of blending between character animation and a physics controlled rig.

This video also demonstrates the 4.11 skin, eye and hair shaders.
