Some WIP shots and renders from my medieval short film, Banesbreach, using UE5 and Metahumans. This is my first project in Unreal 5 since picking it up in February, and its been about 2 months of work so far. Cant wait to continue to build this world and story into what I’ve envisioned. As someone who’s always been an artist, but never had the chance to do it for a job, UE5 has allowed me to realize my creative aspirations in ways I never thought possible. I am so darn excited to keep creating, and love being inspired by everything the community has put together as well.
The aesthetic of medieval always gets me. As soon as I saw the armor and castle I was hooked. Do you have plans on making this into a series?
Hahah I’m Glad to hear it! Due to the (ever-expanding) scope of the story and time available, I will indeed be releasing this in multiple parts! I think it will benefit the production overall, and allow me the greatest chance to do everything the best that I can, without feeling rushed, especially as I’m learning a lot of this as I go. As of now, I expect 3 parts, and will confirm that before the first release.
Good Morrow, Milord! Well met! I must say that I rather enjoyed being introduced to the world of Banesbreach. I can certainly see that you are no stranger to art. The set, as well as the costume design, was “medievally” perfect. Your Metahuman lip sync was virtually impeccable! Prithee, did you have to perform many takes to get the sync to align so perfectly?
I’m also impressed with the slight echo on the queen’s voice! It was very realistic for the type of room they were in. It seems you’ve left no stone unturned for this project. Splendid work on the birds flying by the castle windows!
I look forward to more invitations to the world of Banesbreach. This looks like more than two month’s work. You must have dedicated immense hours to this project for it to look this polished!
I dare say that you make a hobbyist such as myself also yearn to make my creative dreams come true. Until we meet again, Milord, I bid thee farewell.
Youre very kind! I really appreciate it
The method that gets the best result for me with facial mocap is layering and strength-blending, then baking. I definitely got some weird looks from my kids after mime-ing the same voice lines 50 times in a row lmao
Cant wait to keep updating you guys with more from this universe!
You’re most welcome, @P_U_C_C_I_N_I !
LOL! I can imagine the weird looks! Thank you for explaining your mocap process. I know it isn’t the easiest. I’ve seen people having to stretch their mouths into the oddest shapes in order for it to look convincing on the Metahuman. But once you’ve gotten a great facial workout, everything seems to align.
Absolutely stunning work. You are a rising star!
