Baking Animations to Control rig breaks

Hey, I really love the work that has been done for retargeting animations, and getting rigging set up easily…

I do have an issue though, and that is with baking the retargeted animation onto a control rig.

I do everything i am supposed to do, add my character to sequencer, add the animation to them, preview, works perfect.

Right click bake to control rig,

And its all broken…

The confusing part is that it works perfectly fine if i bake to the FK control rig…

(PS, i know this is a mixamo character, but it is not a mixamo skeleton… I re rigged it with ARP in blender, and exported as a Humanoid unreal engine character.

This then had a new modular rig built for it, which works fine on its own…)

I feel the issue is the fact that im using a ARP rig from blender, but at the same time i dont think thats the issue, because it renames, and realigns the bones to be in accordance with UE4, UE5, or UE for fortnite… so it uses their best practice (im pretty sure, i could very well be wrong…)

Been experiencing this issue since modular control rigs came out… I would love to have a fix/solution so i can finally move my workflow over to Unreal Engine for everything…

bump, still an issue in 5.5. cannot bake to modular control rig.

has anyone from epic tried this? can’t bake an animation to a modular control rig based on manny without some distortion.

I’m also getting some slight distortion. The animation is usable, but visibly different (e.g. the head looks slightly more up)

if instead of baking, you would use layered control rig, then animation fits better. but yea baking is issue
