From all the documentation I have found, this should be fairly straight forward. Except no settings are working. Strange thing is it used to work. I just noticed suddenly it doesn’t.
I have a Sound Cue “Ambient Sounds” that has a Sound Class “Ambient” with Apply Ambient Volumes enabled. I added the Sound Cue to the level. Sound fills the level, but the Audio Volume does not seem to be blocking the sound anymore.
Now I’m just enabling and disabling everything, adjusting ambient zone settings, trying to make it work to no avail. It seems to me there would be a fairly “typical” setup for this but I haven’t found a decent tutorial.
The Starter Background Cue is in the project, check Allow Spatialization.
I added a Sound Class and enabled Apply Ambient Volumes and added it to the Background Cue under Sound Class override.
I added an Audio Volume. Adjustments are unnecessary
Now it works!
Repeating these steps in my original project do not work.
I’m at a loss. I have repeated these steps in 3 other projects including 2 new ones in different engine versions, and none of them work. It only works in one, the first one. That one wasn’t actually “new” but a pre-existing minimal project originally created in 4.12. It didn’t have anything in it. I launched it with 4.14 and added the steps above and it just worked.
