Hello everyone. 1st post here. Fairly new to UE4 but have been going through some of the basics.
I am trying to have music affect the brightness of a light. So far I have come across the audio visualization plugin, but no documentation on it.
I have followed this tutorial but it does not work. The music playes but the lights dont work. I also see that other people havn’t got it to work either in the comments.
Can someone help with telling or directing me to information on how to affect lights with music/sound.
The Audio Vis Plugin is kinda broken. It won’t work in Packaged builds (because it uses Data that will be stripped away when you package) and the Values for the “Frequency Spectrum” are totally random.
The Numbers that the Plugin provides are the “Frequency Spectrum” of the given Samples.
So for example, 44100 Sample Song, analyzing 0.1 Second of it will give it 4100 Samples to work with.
That results in 2050 values from 0 to 22000Hz, representing how much Subbass, Bass, Middle, Brilliance, etc
exists in this small part.
The Plugin has functions to give you the Bass value etc. If you scale the value right (some songs are more bass heavy
than other and the value is not from 0 to 1. It can get quiet big) you can use that to change the brightness of your lights,
depending on the bass. There is a Test Project where i use the same method to change the height of StaticMesh Blocks.
You only need to convert your sound file to .ogg and you can load it from your harddrive at runtime.
It seems that link to your solution doesn’t work anymore. Am I missing something? Maybe you could provide some info on how to solve the problem with plugin not working in packaged game?
