Audio Attenuation not working in VR...

Hopefully I put this in the right spot, I think I might need to do some blueprints to get it to work maybe?

But the only way I can get the audio Attenuation to work is if it encloses my character at the very beginning when I click start.

What I have is like a guided tour with a camera. But I can’t hear the audio if I place it anywhere along the tour besides exactly where I start, then the camera goes away from the audio effect and it works correctly. But if I set it anywhere along the path, nothing. Its almost like if something needs to activate it? And that something is only being made when I hit start and not when I am going along. But doesn’t make a ton of sense because I can see through the headset perfectly fine on the camera. Its like the camera isn’t carrying along its microphone to collect sound with it. Sorry hard to explain…

I tried all of the attenuation algorithms and that doesn’t work, I also messed with the inner and outer radius and like I said before, the only way them work is as if I make the outer radius huge enough to encapsulate that starting camera at the beginning, but thats not what I want. I want to get close and the sound to get louder. Pretty basic.

Basically my sound doesn’t play when the camera gets close like it should…

Got it with some research. Need to have “Play When Silent” checked inside the actual sound… Always just a check box in this program. Just need to know where they are.

Thank you a ton. I was running into the same issue. It seems like Unreal currently has a weird VR sound issue where the sound is never activated by the VR pawn if the sound has an attenuation that ends outside of the start point of the VR pawn.

has this been fixed yet?

I’m having a similar problem. I am using a media player to play some audio files. I have the attenuation settings set, but they aren’t working. I can teleport away from the sound source and it sounds exactly the same. I can’t find the “Play When Silent” option to check either. What object is that on? Thanks
